Travis Kelce turns $3.3M mansion into transitional housing for homeless youth
📅 2025-03-06

In January, football star Travis Kelce purchased a $3.3 million mansion in Kansas City to transform it into transitional housing for homeless youth.

And in early March, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end officially donated the house to Foster Love, a nonprofit organization that supports children and young adults navigating the foster care system.

“Travis Kelce bought a $3.3 million home in Kansas City in 2024 to turn it into a temporary living facility for homeless youth,” the foundation wrote on their Facebook page on March 2.

“The 6,500-square-foot property features six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a spacious kitchen, and plenty of outdoor space, including a garden, patio, and fire pit — all designed to offer a safe and supportive environment. The facility also includes a game room and study area, giving young residents a place to relax and focus on their future.”

Beyond aiding children, Foster Love also helps adults who grew up in the foster care system and are unable to secure permanent housing during the “transitional ages” of 18 to 24.

“When youth age out of foster care, they often lose the support and stability provided by the system,” the foundation wrote in a statement on their website. “Without a permanent family or guardianship, they are left to navigate the housing market and other challenges on their own.”

Held back by minimal savings and no rental assistance, these young adults often struggle to secure stable employment or afford college tuition.

“Stable housing plays a crucial role in the well-being and success of transition age youth from foster care,” Foster Love continued.

“Having a stable place to call home provides a sense of security and reduces the risk of housing instability or homelessness. It allows them to have a safe and consistent environment to live in, which fosters emotional well-being and overall stability.”

In addition to housing support, the foundation primarily aids children and teens through sibling reunification programs, counseling resources, and academic services.

Foster Love said that Kelce also took a multi-pronged approach to his donation, by bundling free housing with mentorship opportunities and educational resources to “give these youth the tools they need to move toward independence” and “break the cycle of homelessness.”

Foster Love wrote: “It’s inspiring to see Travis Kelce use his platform to make a real difference for vulnerable youth.”
